1. Different kinds of processing materials and its hardness. The kind and hardness of processing materials is primary element of selecting crusher. Hardness can be divided into 1-10 based on Moh's Hardness Scale. Higher level and harder of the materials, more difficult to process.

2. Moisture content. The material will be sticky if it has high water content and the crusher will be plugged.

3. The requirements of input and output size. If the input size is large and the output size requires small, it will need secondary crushing. If the input size is small, then it won’t need. Jaw crusher is usually made as primary crushing. Impact crusher and cone crusher are usually made as secondary crushing.

4. Capacity. The higher capacity requires, the larger crusher needs. In the meanwhile, lower power consumption is a better choice.
